Colour of the Day: the final selection

When looking at my list of blog posts I just realized that this one, which should have appeared on December 31 somehow never got moved from 'scheduled' to 'publish'. So, a little belated, the conclusion of Colour of the Day. (Forgive that you have already seen the announcement of High Noon mentioned secretively at the end.)

The first weeks in December just dragged on as had been the case in November - dull, grey, and absolutely not a whole lot of colour around. So basically I continued as during the month before - taking pictures of colour whenever there was a chance, not really abiding by my schedule. Here is the final selection of pictures in this project.

Red: December 26
Orange: December 31
Yellow: December 6
Green: December 17

Blue: December 22
Purple: December 27

This is the end of two years of Daily Art with a focus on colour. It is amazing where you can discover colour when you start looking out for it. Never had I imagined how this project would change my way of seeing!
I certainly will continue to be looking out for colours when taking photos. But next year's Daily Art project is going to have a slightly different focus. To be announced in a couple of days!

Colour of the day: the eleventh selection

All of this month, my 'daily art project' felt more like a 'dull-y art project'. The weather was so grey and uninspiring, that most of the month it felt like I was completely out of step. I never really knew which colour's turn it was on which day. I took no photos at all on several days, because there just didn't seem to be any colours around. And sometimes I took several photos of different colours on one day, to catch up. Going through my files, however, it turned out ok. Here is the next to last selection of "Colour of the Day".

Red: November 28

Orange: November 17

Yellow: November 24

Green: November 30
Blue: November 26

Purple: November 3

Colour of the day: the seventh selection

So, it has happened. On July 26 I checked my memory of which color's turn it was against my calendar, where I had noted it for every day of the year. And I realized that I had been off by one day for the entire month already, starting on July 1. I decided on the following procedure for July 26: I was going to take pictures in the colour of the day that had been skipped on July 1 (red), and then slide back into the normal routine the next day (yellow). (And have been getting mixed up badly since about remembering which color I am supposed to be taking today.) Pictures that had been taken before my discovery still appear under the numeral of the day on which they were taken. Not that it makes any difference at all in the great scheme of things whether I took pictures of orange on July 1 or on July 2...

So here is the seventh selection:

red, July 12

orange, July 15

yellow, July 14
green, July 28
blue, July 10

purple, July 30

Well, I hope I get back into the swing tomorrow, with orange.

Colour of the day: the sixth selection

Red - June 30
orange - June 13
yellow - June 20
green - June 27
blue - June 4
purple - June 29

Interesting - this is the middle point of the year, and for a little while I had been pondering whether I should change my Daily Art project after these first six months were completed. I still like looking for colors and taking these photos, and I know that I am getting an ever more schooled eye for these shots. But I am finding it increasingly annoying to have to figure out "ok -which colour is it today?", although I have put a note in my calendar for every day for the rest of the year. So I had started thinking about an alternative. But exactly this monthg two people mentioned how much they had enjoyed exactly these photos when they looked at the blog, one even suggested I should try to get an exhibition opportunity for   these photos. I know that this is completely exaggerated, they were taken with a small digital camera and are technically not exactly brilliant. But it showed me that my project of looking at colors reaches the viewers. So I am continuing. And the brain jogging will do me good, after all, I am going on to old age and the willful act of remembering must be - uhm, lacking the correct word there...  ;-))
